about
A queer anthem about first loves, just eking into Pride Month.
I wanted to capture the common story of falling in love with your best friend in a new way since we rarely see it told through a queer lens and its pressures and risks, coming out, being exposed. It's important for queer artists to be visible in light of the threats our community is facing, so I hope this song inspires hope, courage, and love.
lyrics
We
Played on the same team
Since we were thirteen
Tried smoking weed
For the first time together
We
Confide every secret, why not this?
Would it be wrong if we just kiss?
Gotta aim high even if we miss
Don't tell me you’ve never thought about it
Kevin
Tell me why can't you let in
These feelings? It could be heaven
But we were too scared of them, and
Now I just can't forget him, Kevin
We
Were each others relief
When Heather dumped you
And Ally dumped me
Lying in your bedroom
It was just us together
We
Confide every secret, why not this?
Would it be wrong if we just kiss?
We owe it to ourselves not to dismiss
Don't tell me you don’t think about it
Kevin
Tell me why can't you let in
These feelings? It could be heaven
But we were too scared of them, and
Now I just can't forget him, Kevin
Walk past each other in the hall
But you won't acknowledge me at all
Is it so wrong that I said it?
And that I don't want to forget it?
Kevin
Tell me why can't you let in
These feelings? It could be heaven
But we're just too scared of them, and
Now I just can't forget him, Kevin
Now I just can't forget him, Kevin
Now I just can't forget him, Kevin
