about
Daydreaming of an endless summer we might return to feels like a coping mechanism, a noble lie we have to tell ourselves to hold it together through the darkest days. Part nostalgia for a time we can never go back to, and maybe an inadequate consolation at best, but also a promise to ourselves to rebuild and rise from this having grown through perseverance. Or just whatever it takes to get us through, one day at a time.
lyrics
We've lost so much more than time
We've watched friends and lovers die
We've crossed an ocean so wide
That everything before sinks beneath its tide
Been down so long under cover
(Been down so long under cover)
We're due for an endless summer
(We're due for an endless summer)
So much that can't be recovered
(So much that can't be recovered)
Still long for that endless summer
(Get back to that endless summer)
These walls feel like they're closing in
Haven't talked, both been so exhausted
From not really doing anything
Feels like nothing will be fine ever again
Been down so long under cover
(Been down so long under cover)
We're due for an endless summer
(We're due for an endless summer)
So much that can't be recovered
(So much that can't be recovered)
Still long for that endless summer
(Get back to that endless summer)
What if some lies
Help us get by
Because otherwise
Nothing's fine
Nothing's fine
Nothing's fine
Been down so long under cover
(Been down so long under cover)
We're due for an endless summer
(We're due for an endless summer)
So much that can't be recovered
(So much that can't be recovered)
Still long for that endless summer
(Get back to that endless summer)
